Fishing North Carolina's Outer Banks

The OBSESSION is home-based at Pirates Cove Marina, in the Manteo/Nags Head area of North Carolina's Outer Banks. From April thru November, Captain Jeff runs full day charters to the Gulf Stream and adjacent waters, heading offshore thru Oregon Inlet to take advantage of over 120 miles of the outer continental shelf-edge, with its sharp drop-offs, canyons, Gulf Stream and its eddies. The unique combination of hydrographic and geographic conditions existing off Oregon Inlet results in some of the world's most productive waters and is the reason why the Outer Banks offers the finest year-round abundance of big game species along the continental United States.

Fish on the OBSESSION for yellowfin tuna late-March thru mid-July and late-September thru November; blue marlin from May thru September; white marlin from June thru September; catch dolphin from late-April thru September; for bigeye tuna late-June thru early-August and some years in the fall; and wahoo from April thru November. Outer Banks Fishing Fall 2025

White Marlin fishing has been excellent this past week with a fair number of Blue Marlin mixed in and there are reports of a lot more fish up in the Northern Canyons. The past few years White Marlin have been a bit sparse aournd here as the fish have been distributed further north. Much to our pleasant surprise this September shows promise of excellent action. Action should hold up through September and maybe even the first part of October, unless a hurricane goes up the mid-Atlantic coast.

Along with the marlin, there has been a bounty of big school Dolphin as well. We've still got plenty of good dates available! I have Nick Gowitzka fishing with me; you might know Nick not only from years working down here, but also from the show "Wicked Tuna" in which he participated as both a deckhand and a boat captain.
